The Partner Agencies are:

(b) This Site and the maps it includes are made available for your personal, non-commercial use only.

(c) Information on the maps belongs to ICMPD unless otherwise mentioned. The use, copy, reproduction, publication or reverse engineering of the maps and any information contained therein are not allowed without prior written authorisation from ICMPD. The use of the maps with non-substantial modifications is forbidden. By this it is meant that changes in the design of migration routes, animations, colours or designation of cities, do not alter ICMPD ownership over the maps and their content as well as its right to limit third parties’ use of them.

The above paragraph does not apply to state officials having access to the secured area(s) of the maps.

(d) You are prohibited from modifying, adapting, translating, reverse engineering, decompiling or disassembling any portion of the Site. All download material belonging to ICMPD on this Site cannot be used for publication purposes without prior written authorisation from ICMPD.

(e) The term “i-Map” and the i-Map logo are the property of ICMPD. The use, copy or reproduction of the logo is subject to prior written authorisation from ICMPD. Unless you have agreed otherwise in writing with ICMPD, nothing in the Terms of Use gives you a right to use any of i-Map’s logos, domain names, and other distinctive features.

(f) Unless you have been expressly authorised to do so in writing by ICMPD, you agree that in using the Site, you will not use any trade mark, service mark, trade name, logo of any company or organisation in a way that is likely or intended to cause confusion about the owner or authorised user of such marks, names or logos.

(g) Without limitation, neither the ICMPD nor any of the Partner Agencies shall be liable for damages of any kind resulting from your use of or inability to use the site. Accordingly, you agree that you shall be solely responsible to ICMPD and the Partner Agencies for all activities that occur under your account.

(h) Definition of terms:

The term ‘user’ refers to any person or entity accessing the Site;
The term ‘authorised user’ refers to any person or entity accessing the Site and who possess an individual password and username to access the ‘secured area’ of a map.
The term ‘non-authorised user’ refers to any person or entity accessing the Site and who does not possess an individual password and username or who is not entitled to receive a individual username and password and who accesses or attempts to access the ‘secured area’ of a map.
The term ‘secured area’ refers to particular parts of the Site only accessible upon provision of an individual username and password. Maps on the Site may have more than one secured area. The type of individual username and password determines which secured area can be accessed.

2. Security:

(a) You are prohibited from using the Site to post or transmit any virus, worm, Trojan Horse, Easter egg, time bomb, spyware or other computer code, file or program that is harmful or invasive or may or is intended to damage or hijack the operation of, or to monitor the use of, any hardware, software or equipment.

(b) You are prohibited from using the Site to violate the legal rights of others or harvest or collect personally identifiable information about users of the Site.

(c) You are prohibited from restricting or inhibiting any other person from using the Site, and from interfering with or disrupting the operation of the Site or the servers or networks used to make the Site available or violating any requirements, procedures, policies or regulations of such networks.

(d) You are fully responsible for all interaction with the Site that occurs in connection with your password or username. You agree to immediately notify ICMPD of any unauthorised use of your password or username or any other breach of security related to your account or the Site.

(e) Non-authorised users breaching security to enter the “secured area(s)” will face consequences, such as, but not limited to, banning from the Site and/or criminal prosecution

3. Privacy:

(b) Any other communication or material you transmit to the Site, such as questions, comments, suggestions or the like, will be treated as non-confidential and non-proprietary. Email and other transmissions will not be encrypted or otherwise secured. You represent and warrant that any information you provide in connection with your use of the Site is and shall remain true.

(c) Paragraph (b) does not apply to communication with State officials.

4. Links to third party websites:

(a) The Site may contain links to sites owned or operated by parties other than ICMPD or the Partner Agencies. Such links are provided for your convenience only. ICMPD and the Partner Agencies do not control, and are not responsible for, the content or privacy policies on, or the security of, such sites. Without limiting the foregoing, ICMPD and the Partner Agencies specifically disclaim any responsibility if such sites:

  • infringe any third party's intellectual property rights;
  • are inaccurate, incomplete or misleading;

6. Revisions of the site:

(a) ICMPD reserves the right, at any time and from time to time, temporarily or permanently, in whole or in part, to: modify or discontinue the Site, the Services or the Software, with or without notice; limit the Site’s availability to any person, geographic area or jurisdiction ICMPD chooses. Such limitation may be decided in consultation with the Partner Agencies concerned.

(b) You agree that neither ICMPD nor any Partner Agency shall be liable to you or to any third party for any modification, suspension or discontinuance of the Site, in whole or in part, or of any Service, Software, content, submission, feature offered through the Site. Your continued use of the Site after such changes will indicate your acceptance of such changes.

7. Severability:

(a) If any provision of these Terms of Use is found to be unlawful, void or for any reason unenforceable, that provision shall be deemed severable from these Terms of Use and shall not affect the validity and enforceability of any remaining provision.

1. Collection and Use of Information

(a) ICMPD collects identifiable information about users having access to the “secured area”(s) of the maps, such as name, position, administration, email address, postal address, telephone and fax numbers, when the latter provide them to ICMPD through this Site. Data are kept by ICMPD and disclosed only to the Partner Agencies. However, access of the Partner Agencies to identifiable information is restricted to data on users having access to the secured area(s) of the map(s) the Partner Agency concerned is associated with. Identifiable information will be used, inter alia, to respond to requests and for administrative purposes.

(b) This Site uses encrypted or non-encrypted cookies. Cookies are used to gather information on and monitor activities of users on the Site, identify audience profiles or support strategic planning. Information received will also help ICMPD and the Partner Agencies to improve the Site and services proposed to users. The type of information gathered is mostly linked to the geographic location, the time spent on the Site, the documents requested, the browser and the language used.

(c) ICMPD will also collect “referrers” information and IP addresses.

  • A “referrer” is information that the Web browser passes along to ICMPD’s web servers that references the URL from which you came.
  • The “IP address” is a number used by computers on the network to identify your computer so that data can be transmitted to you.

(d) Cookies do not cause damage to your computer systems or files. If you do not want information collected through the use of cookies, there are simple procedures in most browsers that allow you to delete existing cookies, to automatically decline cookies, or to be given the choice of declining or accepting the transfer of particular cookies to your computer. Please refer to your browser instructions or help screen to learn more about these functions. You should note, however, that declining cookies may make it difficult or impossible for you to use the totality or portions of the Site.

2. Disclosure of Information to Third Parties

(a) The content of the maps on this Site has been developed in cooperation with Partner Agencies. In this respect, information related to the use of this Site by visitors may be shared with them. However, Partner Agencies have only access to information directly related to the map created by the consortium they are part of. In order to know which Partner Agencies are involved in the creation of a given map, please consult the list in Part 1, Article 1, paragraph (a) of the Terms of Use.

3. Links and Third Parties' Privacy Practices

(a) This Site may contain links to other sites which are not operated by ICMPD. ICMPD cannot be hold responsible for the privacy policy or the content of those websites, including those operated by the Partner Agencies.

4. Updates in this Privacy Policy

(a) ICMPD reserves the right to update or change, totally or in part, this privacy policy. Changes will be included in the present text. We urge you to regularly check the policy for possible changes.

The Interactive Map on Migration (i-Map) has served
as a support instrument to intergovernmental
dialogues on migration since 2006.

Its objective is to facilitate access to and exchange
of information through a wide range of services
e.g. migration country profiles, visualisations and news.

The i-map is currently being revised and
a revamped version will be
launched in early 2017.
